Speaking and Listening
Speaking and Listening
The spoken language underpins learning across the curriculum and is vital for pupils’ success.
At Great Wood, we aim to continually develop children’s confidence and competence in spoken language and listening skills, for example: through introducing vocabulary, discussions around books, preparing ideas for writing and opportunities to share ideas during debates. Children are also provided with the opportunity to perform regularly throughout their time at Great Wood, whether that be through drama in the classroom, poetry recitals in front of the school or taking on roles in performances with the whole school and parents as their audience.
